Duke Realty Corporation’s BremnerDuke Healthcare Division Strengthens Dallas Presence with Eye on “Building Healthcare” in the Southwest

Company Enlists Seasoned Healthcare Real Estate Professionals to Forge Relationships

Duke Realty Corporation (Duke) announces the new healthcare business unit, BremnerDuke Healthcare Real Estate (BremnerDuke), has officially entered the healthcare market in the Southwest with the staffing of a Dallas office. BremnerDuke’s healthcare development activities for the Southwest Region of the U.S. will be headquartered on the North Dallas Toll Way as they focus on developing relationships with hospital systems and healthcare providers.

“The opening of the Dallas office reflects BremnerDuke’s intent to grow nationally, with specific interest in ‘building healthcare’ in the Southwest region,” remarks Ed Bittner, Senior Vice President for the Southwest.

With 20 years of experience in all aspects of healthcare real estate development, Bittner joined the BremnerDuke team in 2006 and now spearheads healthcare development efforts in the Southwest. Prior to joining Duke’s healthcare division, Bittner was a partner with Hammes Company for the Southeastern United States, with responsibility for the planning and development of over 1.5 million square feet of healthcare real estate for some of the most reputable healthcare systems in Florida. Bittner holds an MBA from the University of Wisconsin – Madison.

BremnerDuke also recently hired Chris Smith to uncover new healthcare project opportunities throughout the Southwest Region and joins Bittner in the Dallas office. A native Texan, Smith’s experience in the healthcare industry spans 10 years and includes his most recent assignment as a Vice President, Business Development at Nueterra Real Estate in Kansas City where he sold and managed real estate projects in markets across the country. Smith holds a Master’s Degree in Health Care Administration from Trinity University in San Antonio.

Moving from BremnerDuke’s Indianapolis headquarters to Dallas is Rich Couturier, a registered professional engineer who was recently promoted to Vice President, Development. Couturier joined BremnerDuke in 2005, serving as Project Executive. Over the past two years he oversaw an array of healthcare development projects in the Midwest from conception to completion. Couturier earned an MBA from Purdue University.

John Huff, Vice President, Leasing, joined BremnerDuke in Dallas in July 2006 after serving as Vice President for Magellan Commercial Realty in Dallas. Huff represents BremnerDuke Healthcare corporate and healthcare clients to meet all aspects of both parties real estate needs. His extensive healthcare and commercial real estate background accentuate his ability to effectively respond to the needs of each healthcare client.
