Emory Eastside Medical Center and BremnerDuke Announce New Medical Office Building on Hospital Campus

Released: 6/30/2010

Emory Eastside Medical Center (EEMC) and BremnerDuke Healthcare Real Estate (BremnerDuke), a division of Duke Realty Corporation (Duke Realty), will break ground on a new two-story, 40,162-square foot medical office building on June 30, 2010.

The new facility, which will be located directly adjacent to the hospital, will include a Spine Center sponsored by EEMC, as well as office space for medical service providers, including neurosurgical and endocrine specialists.

Following the groundbreaking for the medical office building, Emory Eastside will have a ceremony to begin construction of a 12,000-square foot expansion to its Emergency Department. This expansion will increase capacity by 30 percent, improve patient flow, and reduce wait times.

“Emory Eastside Medical Center is committed to providing high-quality medical care to residents in this area,” said Dustin Greene, Chief Operating Officer for the hospital. “This new medical office building and emergency department will enable us to offer additional services in an on-campus location making it convenient for our patients to access the care they need.”

“We celebrate today the start of a new facility that will provide much-needed space for the medical providers serving this growing community,” said Don Dunbar, Executive Vice President for BremnerDuke Healthcare. “BremnerDuke is pleased to have been selected to develop this new facility and be part of Emory Eastside Medical Center’s expansion.”

In addition to overseeing the development of the building, BremnerDuke will manage site modifications, including earthwork, utilities, roads, curbs, landscaping and lighting. RJ Griffin and Company, a member of the JE Dunn Construction Group, will serve as the general contractor. Construction of the new facility is expected to be complete in July 2011.

Leasing of the new medical office building, which has approximately 20,000 square feet available, is being handled by Larry Jarema, Vice President of Leasing with BremnerDuke.

Emory Eastside Medical Center is a combined effort between Emory Healthcare, a leading medical research university, and Hospital Corporation of America, the nation’s largest hospital corporation.
